TV and FilmStar Wars, Episode One seems to be the big issue at the moment so I don't want to add to the speculation and general traffic. Go find it yourself.I am a Red Dwarf fan. The best Sci Fi comedy ever. Here are a couple of sites I have seen Red Dwarf Central I watch as much mainstream stuff on the TV like Star Trek, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Babylon5, as I can. I am always on the look out for more obscure programmes. Being English and of a certain age I grew up watching Dr Who, the budget often let this series down but never the story line and I, like many others who may never admit it, watched many an episode from behind the sofa. I am also one of those who watched Blake's 7 with enthusiasm and ignored its short comings in special effects and have been pleased to see more and more people admitting to being fans. I have also enjoyed the MANGA movies I have seen. I was very impressed with the first one I saw ,which was AKIRA and I have tried to watch more as I find them. Comics and ArtI cant remember when it started, but it has never stopped. Dan Dare, Batman, Superman and others have been my heroes forever. Judge Dredd and other 2000AD characters have been making an impact on me since issue one. I have had a passing or pressing interest in many other comic titles. Before you ask, I am not a collector and sadly I used to bin my comics once I had finished with them, so I have none to trade. I read Heavy Metal, though I think it is too expensive. I saw the film (in 81 ?) when it came out and searched for pirate copies until it was eventually released on video, 15!! years later. The growth in the adult based comic industry with
its myriad of styles, artists, and writers has led to many an hour in specialist
shops trying to decide which one to buy.
Books and AuthorsAsimov, Clark, Tolkien et alLittle Green MenThis section is dedicated to the unexplained and the "Are we alone?" question. You could say it covers the grey area between fact and fiction. I have put the X Files connections here because of the subject matter dealt with in many episodes. I think we should take a sceptical view of UFO "sightings" but I remain interested. Its the same with me for astrology and other "Mumbo Jumbo", I don't think you can totally discount it though its validity has yet to be proven. Some beliefs have more credence than others. In may opinion we are not alone but I do not believe the "little green men" have called to say hello yet. Unless Douglas Adams was right and they are just intergalactic hooligans buzzing people who will never be believed. |
