All things FORD

OK I admit it, I am a bit of an anorak when it comes to old Ford Escorts. My main passion is for MkI and MkIIs. I fell in love with a MkI Mexico in White and Blue when I was a kid and I have loved them ever since.
My first was a well knackered MkI 1100 which covered somewhere in the region of 125,000 miles before it rotted to death.
The early Escorts with rear wheel drive are just the most fun. If you have got a boy racer in you then these babies will bring him out.
I have a couple of projects in mind which one day I may get round to building. The biggest problem is finding a decent shell which has not been destroyed by Club Rallying and which also would not upset the restoration boys when I modify it, after all it would be a shame to destroy a perfectly good Mex or RS2.
I want to do a full X-Pack Cosworth powered (normally aspirated) MkII and a lowered Zetec turbo powered MkI, I may choose normal aspiration for this as I have seen some very desireable throttle boddies for this engine. Obviously both will be two doored and with running gear for fast road cars rather than competition. Money and time are a little limited at the moment as are the right doner cars in Munich so these will have to wait, but one day......
Like I said on the first page, I have had to leave behind a very sweet MkII 1600 sport back in England. It had a great set of German 4 spoke RS alloys, Recaro roll tops, RS 5 clock dash, Mex front and RS2 rear spoilers, MkI Gp A Billie inserts up front and gas adjusters at the back with a strut brace and tramp bars to help it around the twisty bits. Not much modification but a good looking runner. It was in need of a new shell and I was too busy to do anything about it so I hope the guy who baught it gives it what it deserves.

If any of you reading this share my interest and live around Munich then please contact me, especially if you have a car going at the right price.

There are a number of other Fords which I have some affection for, all of which could be considered hooligan tools, or classics as I like to call them. In thier day they were all a bit special, and the modern ones will be considered classic in years to come.
I hope you like them

Ford Focus World Rally Car.

This is a stunning project from the Malcolm Wilson Team and a wise choice in Colin McRea and Nicky Grist at the sharp end. I know that with the ability of these two and the skill of the team to develop a rally car that they will have a great deal of success. Isn't it nice to see the Martini colours back on a winning rally car. How do they pick so many winners.

1999 Season.

After a superb start with unexpected places and wins the team seems to be hitting a bit of a slump. I am sure that this will not last and even if it needs another year in development this team will be World Champions

Ford GT40

I dont think there is much to say about this classic. The Le Mans car of the 70's. Just a gorgeous design. I would love to drive one.
I am looking for some better images to here as these are a bit dark. I would appreciate a brighter image preferably one of the Gulf cars.

Ford Press

There are lots of magazines out there which cover classic and fast cars in general but I tend to stick to the one make publications as you get more focus on your particular cars.

Fast Ford

I used to read Fast Ford and found the editorial and content to be extremely good, but then they had a change of direction and started aiming more at the modern front wheel drive cars with less and less features on the older classics. It is still a good read and source of information. If you want up rated parts and advice on how to fit them to your modern Ford then this is a great place to look.

Classic Ford

When Fast Ford went modern, Classic Ford appeared to look after us old gits. It has a less agressive approach then FF and caters more for the classic lover, even if you like to modify them.

Ford Owners Clubs

For like minded individuals these clubs have a great deal to offer. Not only a good excuse for a night out but helpful advice on how to care for your car and a network of people who may have the spares you need.
